Details

Ductile iron castings are a type of casting material with excellent properties and wide applications. The following sections will detail the characteristics, manufacturing process, application areas, and future development trends of ductile iron castings.

Ductile iron castings, also known as spheroidal graphite iron castings, are cast iron materials obtained by adding a graphitizing agent to cause the graphite in the cast iron to form spheres. Its casting process is similar to that of ordinary cast iron, but the addition of the graphitizing agent changes the graphite morphology from flake-like to spherical, significantly improving its mechanical properties and machinability.

Ductile iron castings have excellent mechanical properties. Due to the presence of spherical graphite, ductile iron castings have high toughness and tensile strength, and are more elastic than ordinary cast iron. It also has high fatigue resistance and impact resistance, and can withstand large loads and vibrations. This allows ductile iron castings to be widely used in machinery, automotive, and railway transportation.
